Objective : To collect all the Zip Deck cards
Number of players : 2 to 4
Preparation : Deal out all the cards face down. The dealer will decide if the winning play will be colours, shapes or numbers.
The play : The player to the left of the dealer goes first and turns over the top card of their pile and places the card in the middle of the playing area. Play continues clockwise.
Zip Snap : If when turning over their card the player turns over a card with the same colour, shape or number (decided by the dealer before play starts) as the card on the top of the pile, that player must call out 'ZIP SNAP' and wins the cards in the pile and place them at the bottom of the cards they have. That player then starts play again by placing the top card on their pile over in to the middle.
Zip Gold Card : Zip Gold Card is always a 'ZIP SNAP' if drawn one after the other.
Activity Card : If a player draws an Activity Card that player undertakes the activity (placing the activity card on top of the pile). That player then starts play again by placing the top card on their pile over in to the middle. If the next card drawn is an Activity Card the player must complete the activity and declare 'ZIP SNAP' to win the pile of cards and play resumes.
Game End : When one player is left with all cards and the rest of the players are unable to turn a card over in to the middle.
Next game : The player to the left of the last dealer, becomes the new dealer and it is their turn to decide what will be Zip Snap - colours, shapes or numbers.
Objective : Make a rainbow - finish with a hand of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet - or cards 1 to 7!
Number of players : 2 to 4
Preparation :
Remove the Zip Gold Cards.
From the remaining deck deal out seven cards to each player.
Shuffle in the Zip Gold Cards to the remaining cards and place them face down in the middle of the players (this is the main pile). Take the top card from the main pile, turn it over to form the 'face up' pile.
The play : The player to the left of the dealer goes first. To start making their rainbow, the player must decide whether to pick up from the 'face-up' pile or take a card from the main pile.
Once the player has decided which card to take they must place a card back to the face-up pile for play to turn to the next player. Ensuring a hand of seven cards at all times.
If the main pile has been fully drawn, shuffle the 'face up' pile and turn over and turn the top card face-up and play continues.
Zip Gold Card : If a player picks up a Zip Card they keep the card and keep in front of them. Play continues to the next player.
Activity Card : If a player draws an Activity Card that player undertakes the activity (placing the activity card on the face-up pile when complete). If the player completes the activity they can take another turn and take a card from the main deck for play to continue. If the player does not complete the activity, play turns to the next player.
Game End : Two ways to win!
1 - Turns continue until the first player has made their rainbow and declares victory by calling out 'I made a rainbow!'
2 - A player collects two Zip Gold Cards, declaring victory by calling 'I have two Zips'
Objective : To collect various sets of cards.
The sets can be three of the same number/colour, a set of the same shape in number order, 7 square, 6 square, 5 square - see image for examples.
Number of players : 2 to 4 players
Preparation :
Remove the Zip Gold Cards and the Activity Cards
Deal out six cards to each player.
Shuffle in the Zip Gold Cards and Activity Cards to the remaining cards and place them face down in the middle of the players (this is the main pile).
Take the top card from the main pile, turn it over to form the 'face up' pile.
The play : The player to the left of the dealer goes first. The player must decide whether to take the card from the face up pile, and give up a card back to the face up pile from their hand or if that card does not help their hand they may chose to take a card from the main pile, either using this card and giving up one from their hand or discard the newly picked card to the face-up pile if it of no use to them. Play then moves to the next player.
Activity Card : If a player draws an Activity Card that player undertakes the activity (placing the activity card on top of the face-up pile).
Game End : The first player to collect three of the same number/colour, and/or a set of the same shape in number order, example, 7 square, 6 square, 5 square - see image above for example of winning hands.
Next game : Shuffle the cards thoroughly, the player to the left of the previous first player goes first.
Objective : Pair off all your cards and be left holding Zip!
Number of players : 2 to 4 - Ideally this game is played with 3 or more players.
Preparation : Start by taking out two of the Zip cards, leaving just one Zip in play.
At your discretion, take out the Activity Cards before dealing. If you have left the Activity Cards in see the Activity Card section below for play guidance.
Deal all the cards to the players.
When everyone has their hand they need to go through and take out all the pairs they have and place them in the middle, these cards are now out of play. If you are playing with the Activity Cards keep these in your hand even if you have pairs.
The play : The person to the left of the dealer goes first. They take a card from the hand of the person to the right of them. If they make a pair with this new card, they put the pair in the middle.
The next person then goes, taking a card from the person to the right of them. The whole point is to get rid of the pairs and be left holding Zip!
Activity Card : If a player picks an Activity Card that player undertakes the activity (placing the Activity Card in the middle - the card is now out of play). That player then may take another card from the player and play continues as above.
Game End : The person who has caught Zip and has no other cards - this player declares ‘ZIP CATCH’ or ‘ZIP CHASE’
Objective : Classic 'Hi-Lo' with a Zip twist
Number of players : 2
Preparation :
Shuffle the cards well before each round is dealt.
Deal seven cards to each player face down in a row from left to right. The rest of the pack can be put to one side until the next round.
The play :
The youngest player goes first.
First play, the player turns over the card on the left hand side.
The player has to decide if the next card on the right is higher or lower than the card on the left. Once the player has decided they turn over the next card.
Possible outcomes;
A) If they are correct, or it is the same number, they play again, if they are incorrect, play turns to the second player.
B) The player turns over an Activity Card - the player completes the activity to take another turn. See A
C) The player turns over the Zip Gold Card - player declares ‘Hi-Lo Zip’ and is the winner!
If the first player does not complete the seven card turnover then player two takes their turn.
Zip Gold Card : If a player turns over the Zip Gold Card they win that play instantly declaring ‘Hi-Lo Zip’
Activity Card : See B above
Next play : The player to go first alternates each game.
Game End : The first player to win three hands is the winner.
